Funerals and Memorial Garden
The death of a loved one is a painful time when we support one another in our grief. It is also a joyous time when we celebrate the promise of eternal life in Jesus Christ.
The clergy and staff of Redeemer will work with you in arranging a meaningful funeral for your loved one. Redeemer’s funeral service is taken from the Episcopal Church's Book of Common Prayer called “The Burial of the Dead.” The liturgy for the dead is an Easter liturgy and finds all its meaning in the resurrection. Because Jesus was raised from the dead, we, too, shall be raised. The liturgy, therefore, is characterized by joy, in the certainty that nothing can separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus. This joy, however, does not make human grief unchristian. The very love we have for each other in Christ brings deep sorrow when we are parted by death. Jesus himself wept at the grave of his friend. So while we rejoice that one we love has entered into the nearer presence of our Lord, we sorrow in sympathy with those who mourn.

Cremation is often a viable option for families. Redeemer has a lovely memorial garden on its property immediately adjacent to the church. If this option is selected, the ashes may be interred and the name of the person inscribed on an individual memorial brick and placed in the the memorial garden path.
